The Center for Risk Researh (CRR) welcomes Professor Glenn D. Hook, Director of the Graduate School of East Asian Studies, the University of Sheffield, UK to be a member of our International Advisory Board from November 2007.
Dr. Hook is recognized as a leading researcher of Japanese Studies in the UK and his research interests are in the international relations of contemporary Japan, particulary in relation to East Asia, as well as in security and risk in Japan. He is also the Director of NIJS (National Institute of Japanese Studies) which can be described as 'one of the landmarks for Japanese Studies' in the UK.
By the research relationship between Dr. Hook and Dr. Aspinall (a board member of the center), he willingly accepts our invitation. We sincerely would like to ask Professor Hook to observe and supervise our research activities and give us more professional guidance to enrich and widen our research scope and activity.

Glenn D. Hook is Professor of Japanese Politics and International Relations and Director of the Graduate School of East Asian Studies, the University of Sheffield, UK. He is the first Director of the National Institute of Japanese Studies, an international Centre of Excellence with Leeds University funded by the British authorities. His research interests are in Japanese politics, international relations and security, particularly in relation to East Asia. His recent work includes Japanese Responses to Globalization (coeditor, Palgrave, 2006); Japan's International Relations (coauthor, Routledge, 2005 (second edition) and Contested Governance in Japan: Sites and Issues (editor, 2005, RoutledgeCurzon).
