講演概要

This lecture would deal with family relations and more broadly oriented interpersonal relations, as well as issues concerned with form, audience and the lyric, via Seamus Heaney's poems "A Kite for Michael and Christopher" and "A Kite for Aibhin", as well as U2's song "Kite".

講師経歴

Professor of English Literature, University of Agder, Norway

Charles Ivan Armstrong（チャールズ・アイヴァン・アームストロング） 氏

2001年にベルゲン大学（ノルウェイ）で比較文学の博士号を取得。ベルゲン大学准教授などを経て、現在アグデル大学教授。専門は英詩（特にモダニズム期のアイルランド詩）で、国際イェイツ協会会長、EFACIS（アイルランド研究センター、ヨーロッパ連盟）会長などを歴任。単著にRomantic Organiscism: From Idealist Origins to Ambient Afterlife (Palgrave Macmillan, 2003), Figures of Memory: Poetry, Space and the Past (Palgrave Macmillan, 2009), Reframing Yeats: Genre, Allusion and History (Bloomsbury, 2013)、共編著に The Edinburgh Companion to W. B, Yeats and the Arts (Edinburgh UP, 2024) など。
